I! Have an excellent idea! (Imagine me saying this like the March Hare from Alice in Wonderland.) Let's change the subject!

Srsly. All the meta and post-ep pondering that gets slapped up on [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson? Make a new comm for it the way we did for the Sims posts, or just see about getting all the meta posted at [livejournal.com profile] housefic_meta God knows HFM needs to get its name out there some more. This could also get fandom more involved in HoF nomming.

I AGREE SO HARD WITH THIS. I GET SO SICK OF SEEING POST-EP REACTION AFTER POST-EP REACTION, AFTER META AFTER META AFTER BAD FUCKING META.

i should do something about it seeing i am one of the mods, y/y? i might make a post about it on my lj a bit later, see what people's thoughts on the whole meta in house_wilson thing is.

I AM STEALTHILY FINAGLING ALL THE H_W MODS INTO FRIENDING ME SO MY HAREBRAINED BITCHERY CAN BE HEARD!

It seems sensible, right? Not that sense is this fandom's forte, but still. Also, elitist bitches like myself would rather just read meta by people they trust with that kind of ammo (flisters, etc) instead of peeking over at h_w and having to wander through all the crazy to get to the fic.

It's too bad [livejournal.com profile] hausvilson never got off the ground--having a comm dedicated solely to H/W fic and art, without all the accompanying detritus, would've been a cool counterpoint.

Argh hausvilson. Lol. I have two differing POVs about that kind of comm. I agree that it would be awesome to have a community dedicated JUST to fanfic/fanart. But making it elite/moderated membership the way it's done is not very effective. Because the person who chooses who gets to be on board will have a biased opinion as to who they consider to be worthy of posting there or not.

I will make a post in my lj and get people to bitch at me about house_wilson! My lj is good for that kind of thing! lmao

Yeah, the finger-wagging at any kind of elitism kills the fact that it's actually not a bad idea to have a comm with that solely fic and art content. Maybe if anyone were allowed to post, but the content had to be approved by mods first, it would work, assuming people don't still associate [livejournal.com profile] hausvilson with elitism. There would also need to be a bunch of mods so posts would get approved ASAP, which is always a shaky issue.

I just feel bad for new authors who are actually good and get lost in the shuffle.

OR A NEW COMM COULD JUST BE MADE ONE THAT IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ELITISM OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. hausvilson has been dead for centuries now.

WELL PERHAPS YOU CAN MAKE ONE WHILE I SIT IN MY ROCKING CHAIR AND FIND NEW THINGS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT

I'm co-modding [livejournal.com profile] get_house_laid and hardly have to do anything, but I just don't have the schedule or the stamina for lugging a new comm together right now. Though I will cheerlead the entire process for anyone who does!

But that's what the comm is for. Fic, art and discussion about H/W. They're posting H/W-specific stuff, not general meta. Pretty soon we're going to end up with hw_fic, hw_art, hw_meta, hw_ot, hw_sims, hw_everyfuckinglittlething and the actual h_w comm is going to be totally obsolete.

yeah that is true. i kind of get sick of seeing metas about the same thing over and over, and think there doesn't need to be a series of episode reactions. i figure if people are interested in other people's ep reactions, they'll watch their lj.

some of the discussions, though, HURT MY HEAD. one of the latest ones in particular. i leave 'em to it because they're not doing anyone any harm but it still makes me want to hit my head on something solid sometimes, lol.

Yeah, I realize h_w is seen as the go-to comm if you want to get your voice heard, since it's been around for a while and has an insane number of members. I do think having a comm for nothing but fic and art would be nice, if it actually took off, but it's not actually a huge issue. My flist gets me the good stuff and when I do visit the comms, my scroll bar works fine.

AMEN! All the clutter, clutter, clutter. And then, when metas escalate into cat-fights, they can stay in one little place.

Yay, I'm not alone in this!

I guess, this would make sense, if you only want meta... The HW comm is for all the HW related stuff, so meta belongs there, too.

So there'll be some meta after every episode (at least after the HW strong ones)... That'll pass after a day or two, and scrolling isn't so hard to do, if you're not interested.

As long as the mods intervene after people fall over themselves posting the exact same thing only less coherently... ^_~

Nooo, don't send them to HFM! That comm's got a pretty good intelligence quotient.

Most of the meta seems to be about the show itself, not fic, so it likely wouldn't be suitable for HFM anyway.

That said, I follow a simple procedure for meta: if my eyes glaze over too much, it's time to hit the back button. Because Sturgeon's Law applies equally well to meta as it does to fic. *g*
