My resolutions are pretty simple. I want to give up chocolate, pull out my eyebrows less frequently, and have my other grandmother not die.

Egypt was wonderful, but then I got an email from my mother full of things like ovarian cancer and chemo-to-come and other particulars that made me feel Very Far Away.

Relatives: plz to not be getting terminally ill in such rapid succession, k?

Haven't read much Yuletide, dunno my total word count for 2008, but I'll get there. Must deal with jet lag and family first.

ETA: AHAHAHA WHAT. So apparently my grandmother is "very positive," as both she and my mother put it, and I took that to mean "very positive for cancer" when in reality they meant "very positive about the outcome of treatment," which is somewhat less worrisome. Wish I'd known that right off the bat and saved myself a panic session.

Regarding Yuletide. I cranked out my fic at the last second, so I'm just happy it exists.

The fandom's a little obscure, the fic's not particularly brilliant, but it's something a bit new for me and I'm okay with the result. All my feedback has been positive and the only other Yuletide fics I've read were absolutely amazing, so I feel a little dull by comparison, really. And a little guilty for not setting aside the time and effort to create something better instead of something I was pretty sure would fly.

Good haul this year, from what I can see. Recs to come.
