Thanks to everyone who commented on the last entry about my grandmother. My father and his brothers agreed to let her go if it comes to that, which, according to my mother, seems likely. I got an email about it this morning.

In reading class for my kindergarteners, we're doing a story called "When I Am Old With You," which is about a boy and his grandfather. I made the mistake of checking my mail right before having to teach that.

Oh, the bad choices I make.

I was a commandant all through class, then had a meltdown on my ten-minute break. First one in quite a while, but I'm not holding it against myself. Still waiting to hear more news from the homefront, but no dice yet.

And now, since everyone's doing it, here's that meme where you put your mp3 player on shuffle and make a poem out of the first lines of the first twenty songs, then title it with the first line of the twenty-first:

Blackbird Claw, Raven Wing

I fell on the playing field
Daddy's little girl paints the world with her magic wand
As I was walking all alone
Imtheochaidh soir is siar

The summer sun, it blows my mind
Pick up a pizza, pineapple ham
Across the room
I wonder how you sleep

Well, in the merry month of May
'Twas down the glen one Easter morn
What do you mean you're not afraid?
I'm not sure who's fooling who here as I'm watching your decay

Designers, you let me violate you
There are women of many descriptions
Every day you walk with stronger step
I think I heard you say it

Well, my heart knows me better than I know myself
Underneath her skin and jewelry
Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Stay right there

(Some of these are a little humiliating.)
