This is a little late, as per most of my updates these days, but thank you a thousand times to everyone who left me love on the love meme. That right there is one of the best pre-birthday presents I could possibly get.

Remix authors have been revealed!

And since the Remix gods were smiling on me, I landed the illustrious [livejournal.com profile] jibrailis as my recipient.

I can fangirl over Nancy's work like I'm getting paid for it. She has an oeuvre that makes me flail with a dozen different emotions, so I thought for sure that picking just one fic to remix was going to be an ordeal.

It actually wasn't. Write your name on the dotted line is one of my favorites, hands down. It's an achingly lovely story set years in the future when our heroes, as we know them, are past their prime and coping with everything that entails, albeit not in a particularly healthy manner. The author's note reads "I write sad fic when I'm happy, and happy fic when I'm sad," which initially confused me a little because I actually did read this as being an uplifting fic, based solely on the last segment where it seems they finally start to move in the right direction.

For the remix, though, I thought it would be much more interesting to explore the not-so-happy side of that world. And I think I was much better off doing this sort of interpretation than, say, a remix of the juicebox fic or the Iron Chef AU or the Mr. and Mrs Smith AU. I don't know if I have quite the comedic chops for it. Hence, this! Wherein there is very little comedy, unless you like jokes about organ theft.
