Rather than cluttering up her comments page, I’m just going to link to it here, so anyone new to my LJ (or anyone dying to know whether I enthusiastically sing while I drive or something) can take a gander. Contains mp3s, fic links, and long-windedness.
Feel free to swipe and reply, also. I kind of want to know who else sings in the car. =)
Nearly a year and a half now. Jesus. Picked it up after graduation and I’ve been riding it through the Real World ever since.
2. Tell me a bad habit of yours. Cracking my neck.
3. What's one place in the world you really want to go to before you die? Scotland. India. Turkey. Ohsnap, I can’t count. On that note, where the fuck is number four?
5. The obligatory desert island question... You're going to one and only allowed to take three things, and those three things are...: Tons of sunscreen, tons of fresh water, tons of matches. I was a Girl Scout.
6. What music are you into? (Upload some stuff if you can/want to - I love getting new music!)
*deep breath* I love stuff that’s kind of a twist on the norm, like teenage Belgian choirgirls who do covers of contemporary songs (Scala: Under the Bridge; String Quartet Tribute: Losing My Religion).
I like unconventional instrumentals and lyrics that sound like stories (Noe Venable: Jamie Goes Home--love her voice, and the fact that this song was recorded in a basement while she banged on pots, pans, and a screen door; Modest Mouse: Jesus Christ Was an Only Child, which sounds like bluegrass fiddling mixed with Beijing Opera, but totally works; The Winks: Snakes, this weird Canadian band, kind of jaunty and creepy at the same time, with a lead singer who sounds like a five-year-old).
Anything by the Decemberists (The Infanta, because OMG, the internal rhyme!)
Experiment IV by Kate Bush because it's so droll and dancey, and if you check YouTube, you'll see a young, gawky Hugh Laurie in the video, wearing a lab coat.
I don’t like music for background noise; I like music that makes me listen. And I love pimping it out. One more!
Talkshow Boy: OMG I <3 LiveJournal--oh, you only think I'm making this up. It's like listening to a seizure icon made by a caffeinated tween.
7. Tell me three things you ABSOLUTELY HATE.Bigotry, letting shyness hold me back, being sick.
8. If you could shag anyone in the world, male or female, who would that be? PIC SPAM IS ENCOURAGED. Natalie Portman. Ziyi Zhang. Lara Fraser. Irina Dvorovenko. The whole dark hair, big dark eyes, ridiculously good skin, good cheekbones thing seems to be a theme.
9. Tell me your talents! All of them! I'm not bad at scene painting, keeping my balance, and cutting my own hair.
10. If you do stuff in fandom (eg fics, icons, vids, etc), link me to the piece of work of yours that you're most proud of. I collab a lot withnakeno, and the joint work of ours that’s gotten the best response is probably Comfort Zone, where House and Wilson slowly drift into a relationship instead of ZOMG sekritly pining for each other over decades of angst and woe. For solo fics, I’ll go with Somnus, because it’s got somnophilia and no fandom can have too much of that. Or, if you have more refined tastes, here’s some genderfucked femslash featuring deliberately bad porn. Crap, I still can’t count. Sorry!
11. What's something weird you enjoy that gets you odd looks from other people? Singing while I drive. It doesn't matter if I know the words or if I'm even playing music. I’ll rap, improvise, pretend to know Portuguese, make up ballads about how much traffic sucks...
12. Your religious beliefs. Latitudinarian! Fancy way of saying I believe in possibilities and open-mindedness. I think I'm a logical person, but at heart I know I'm not ready to write anything off.
13. Your favourite foods! Stir-fried vegetables with jasmine rice. For now.
14. Tell me the story behind your LJ username. I fell out of fandom for a while, then got back into it and decided I might as well archive all my relatively presentable fic in a single place other than the Pit. So I started this and called it Recrudescence, which means a new outbreak after a dormant period. My srs biz, let me show you it.
15. Your favourite moment in House. The first episode I saw was Skin Deep, and I was drawn in by the double-chinned guy who pretended to be God. Even then, I mentally “awwww”ed a little because he made the mean man with the cane smile.
