Yes, I know it's getting old, but fuck it, I like this gif. Arthur looks so devious, like he actually has a mental flowchart of seat-taking strategies or something.

Unrelated: I would greatly appreciate it if students would stop calling me "shawty." It happened again today and, once again, I was a little poleaxed by it. Seriously, what even? (OH. AND I'M GETTING SICK OF FLASHING MY BADGE EVERY TIME SOME OTHER TEACHER STOPS ME IN THE HALL TO ASK WHERE MY PASS IS. ARGH. I AM NOT ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL, NOR WILL I EVER BE AGAIN.)

On the other hand, I've managed to prank a couple classes today by solemnly announcing they have a pop quiz (in reality, all they're doing is making posters for Foreign Language Week). They get so aghast before they remember it's April Fools Day. I love it.

Yesterday, I actually did run into the student I mentioned in my last post and we talked for a few minutes to get things sorted. Huge thanks to everyone who commented on that post, by the way; I'm a little behind on responding properly, but I'll get there!

I think it's more a matter of them not remembering my name than it is of, say, them wanting to offend me, since each time this has happened it's been from students who seemed pretty pleased to see me. And while I appreciate the sentiment, I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND, KIDS, SO CUT IT OUT.

Sadly I think Friday is becoming a daily part of my life... my apartment is on the "cereal diet" (silly diet where we eat two meals of cereal and one real meal), so every time I go eat I tell my roommie "gotta get my bowl..."

Super lame.

Arthur is methodical about his seat decisions. He's got it down to an art form.

Is that Cobb? I honestly can't tell. I thought it was Eames at first, but I'm not so sure...whoever it is, they're totally pointing the wrong way.

The cereal diet sounds very familiar...only, for me, it was more of an oatmeal diet. It's cheap, filling, and requires no cooking skills whatsoever. I was sold (and I probably had scurvy, but whatever).

I guess I just lucked out with this high school. The "shawty" thing has only happened a few times, but I think I'm starting to make students realize it isn't actually appropriate. Now if I could just instill the same thoughts about using "gay" and "retarded" in class, I'd be set.

dude, you are such a rock star for the high schoolers. Serious props for showing the aforementioned student that yo DO care about their orientation.

Also, dude, the similarities of our two subbing experiences are kinda wild. I had a kid attempt to call me shawty until I squashed it by announcing that since I was, in fact, taller than him, really HE should be the shawty.

In conclusion, you are so cool and I am so proud of your awesomeness.

This high school is disproportionately full of tall people. It's ridiculous. However, by wearing heels and glasses more regularly, I seem to have gotten a little more teacherly in everyone's eyes, so that's nice. :)
