House-babble!

Get my Vertigo poster back. )

I was tagged for this a while back. From [livejournal.com profile] finding_jay:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people.

The book is White Out: The Continuing Significance of Racism and yes, it really is the closest one. I have a hard time listening to nonfiction in audiobook form, so not many of my physical books here are are fiction.

"Wayne plays Colonel Kirby, the usual invincible John Wayne military commander, a Green Beret who leads all the operations and never suffers a scratch. Unlike the other white messiahs in the movies, Kirby is never tempted, never doubts, and never develops. The Green Berets is static, with many battle scenes but no dramatic tension.

"The movie opens with a press conference in which the army explains that the United States is fighting for the South Vietnamese, who need and want Americans to protect them from the brutal Communists."

Said book also contains a card from [livejournal.com profile] hannahrorlove, currently doubling as a bookmark. Happy slightly late birthday, Hannah!

ALSO. A huge, hearty thank you to [livejournal.com profile] tripperfunster, whose glorious package of Canadian awesomeness arrived yesterday. YOU FOUND MIKE & IKES, OMGGGGG! I have been chowing down like a pro and all my Korean coworkers think ketchup chips are amazing. I'm going to frame RSL and put him on my fanart wall.

First off. I enjoyed the elevator scene where they talked about needing to punish Thirteen. House, being the tell-it-like-it-is bro that he is, reminded us that not only did Foreman break up with Thirteen and fire her, he also sucks at doling out punishments on his own and ends up running to daddy for help. This is thanks to the fact that, um, the career he's so in love with? It's the same one that has him crawling back to House time and time again because no one else will have him.

I actually watched this one! At first I doubted I could be arsed to write anything of my own, but then I was feeling so crampy I actually broke down and took some pain meds that happen to contain both acetaminophen and caffeine, so I'm once again feeling peppy before dawn.

Kind of short, but let's see if I've still got it, y'all. )

What. Wow. Just.

Did he seriously say "carpet cleaner"? Seriously?

My jaw literally dropped.

...man, I remember when House's thorniness was endearing instead of douchey. Those were the days.

Gotta finish the ep now. BRB.

I do not think I have ever sympathized more with Foreman than I did during this episode.

Also, who wants to write ice-cream truck sexings? Or Dr. O'Shea sexings? 'Cause I kinda do.

Do not expect coherency.
